There are some brands that are so iconic they have global name recognition.  No matter the language or country, the name is recognized the world over. Ritz-Carlton is one of those brands.  It’s synonymous with high-end luxury, so when they unveiled plans in 2017 to enter the luxury cruise market it created a buzz.  Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is building 3 super yachts with the first debuting at 623-feet-long and 21,000 gross tons.  The vessel, to be named the Azora, will launch in February 2020.

One of the trends emerging in the industry is personalizing the guest experience, and Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is embracing the trend by incorporating a feature that allows these super yachts to increase or decrease suite sizes with flexible air walls.  This innovative trend extends to the five dining venues which can be divided into smaller spaces so that even the largest dining room feels like 10 smaller venues. Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection will also offer a signature Ritz-Carlton Spa, a super yacht marina and platform for watersports, and other features designed to bring the Ritz-Carlton experience to sea.  These super yachts are being designed to offer a more residential feel in a resort setting, making guests feel more relaxed and at home. Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is also working on itineraries that will offer both a land and sea component so guests can enjoy all the Ritz-Carlton brand has to offer.

Considering their already stellar reputation in the luxury hotel market, all eyes are on this new venture to see what impact it will have on the luxury cruise segment.  Setting a high bar is a Ritz-Carlton standard, and their entry into the luxury cruise market is no exception. The industry will be watching with excitement and anticipation.
